Raphaella: Tino’s ‘One To Watch’

is a 21 year old singer/songwriter/musician of English/Persian heritage living in London. She is an exciting, young, vibrant artist that is turning many heads in the music industry.

Her performance at Showcase Live has gotten her into my ‘One’s To Watch’ in 2012!

I was lucky enough to grab an interview with this star in the making…

Me: How important do you think it is to stand out from the crowd when you have a UK Top 40 which can often sound as if it’s blurring into one?

: It’s very important as long as you can stay true to yourself. It is difficult in today’s industry to stay true and be individual and to stand out.

Me: Has surrounding yourself in different styles helped you find your individuality?

: Definitely, so many influences from a young age. I love Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Ben Howard and Bon Ivor.

Me: How important is it for you to stick to this individuality and not conform to a much more commercial sound?

: My whole reason for becoming an artist was to remain individual and I would never compromise (my individuality).

Me: Where would be you dream venue to perform?

: So many. O2 Arena, Wembley, in the UK. The Big Ones! [she smiles and her face lights up at the prospect]

Me: Do you see yourself as an arena artist? Or would you prefer the intimacy of a venue like Under the Bridge?

: I couldn’t decide between the two. I love the challenge of an arena venue and the intimacy of a small venue.

Me: Where do you see yourself in 12 months time?

: Performing and releasing music. I want to be able to touch people and make a difference and for everyone to know my music.
