The BBC is launching its witty new celebrity version of its popular quiz show, Pointless , this Saturday evening in a prime time slot, it has been revealed.
As per its non-celebrity parent show, Pointless, Pointless Celebrities will run a Family Fortune type format, where contestants have to guess popular answers from a survey of 100 strangers interviewed, but with a difference – their answers will be so random a real dose of imagination is in order to get the answer as far from average as possible.
Pointless Celebrities offers an unique mixture of silly humour, random unknown facts and irresistible game play combined with Pointless Celebrities. Well known faces will compete to win a cash sum for their charity of choice by getting the answer with the least amount of votes, and if an answer is given that does not appear in the survey results, this is considered a ‘pointless’ answer, the holy grail of the quiz.
Pointless Celebrities will be hosted by the same Pointless host, Alexander Armstrong, who will be assisted in proceedings with Richard Osman acting as keeper of facts and figures.
Showbiz stars featuring in the special edition are: Christopher Biggins and Lesley Joseph, Penny Smith and Jon Culshaw, Monica Galetti and Michel Roux Jr plus Joe Swash and his mother Kiffy.
Pointless Celebrities can be seen on Saturday at 6.15pm on BBC1/HD, with the remainder of the celebrity series expected to be run at the same prime time slot weekly.
