BBC Orders Saturday night gameshow pilot, ‘Mrs Brown’s Celebrities’

Brendan O’Carroll’s character Mrs Brown, is to present a new Saturday night gameshow.

will be produced by 12 Yard Productions, with a 40-minute non TX pilot currently being made. The BBC are expected to commission a full series for broadcast in 2013.

According to Broadcast, The new show will see two contestants competing in comedy quiz – which will see them helped by five celebrities. In the final round they must use the celebrities knowledge to win the prize.

Alan Tyler, BBC entertainment commissioning executive editor said: “Mrs Brown is one of the crown jewels of BBC comedy. We are delighted that she is welcoming some famous faces into the family, and we are equally thrilled that she is continuing to make herself at home on BBC1.”

Andy Culpin, 12 Yard Productions added: “Mrs Brown’s unique take on life is sure to provide an entertaining and unpredictable show that will appeal to old and new fans alike.”

Mrs Brown’s Boys is a Bafta award-winning comedy. Made by BBC Scotland as a co-production with BocPix in association with RTE. The second series had an average of 6.9m viewers in its six-part run.
