‘Great Gatsby’ receives May 2013 release date

Warner Bros has announced that The Great Gatsby will be released worldwide in May 2013.

Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation was originally planned to be released on Christmas Day 2012, however, it was pushed back as a summer 2013 release to ensure it receives the biggest audience possible.

Dan Fellman, president of domestic distribution at Warner Bros. said: “Audiences have been looking forward to Baz Luhrmann’s film adaptation of one of the most beloved books of all time, and we felt this beautifully extravagant and dramatic film would be a perfect way for us to kick off our summer slate.”

Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, president of international distribution added: “Baz’s unique take on Gatsby is glitzy and glamorous, with his juxtaposition of the classic take and contemporary themes hitting just the right note. The film should really add heat to the competitive summer season.”

The Great Gatsby will now be released in North America on May 10^th, 2013. The movie will then hit cinemas worldwide the following week.
