Cowell to Cheryl: ‘Name your price’

The X Factor boss Simon Cowell has reportedly held secret talks with former judge Cheryl Cole, in a desperate bid for her to return to the troubled UK version of the hit show.

Simon Cowell last year humiliated Cole when he gave her promised place on the US version of The X Factor to Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger. Cowell said that he would find it “incredibly difficult” to return to the show himself due to US commitments, so is hoping to secure the services of the popular Girls Aloud singer.

The X Factor this year has seen a dramatic ratings dip, with one episode averaging just 7.6 million viewers, compared with figures as high as 19.4 million just two years ago. The current series concludes with the live finals in Manchester next weekend (December 8th/9th).
