NBC has announced Nick Lachey as the host of new talent show, The Winner Is.
The Winner Is (Working Title) is a new hybrid singing game show that showcases talented singers of all ages from all popular styles of music. The contestants will battle it out in head-to-head singing duets as they compete for a huge cash prize, however, there’s only one thing that stands in their way, the vote of the studio audience.
Speaking about the announcement, NBC’s president of Alternative and Late Night Programming said: “Nick is a versatile, seasoned host and we are thrilled to be working with him.
“With Nick at the helm on air and an original format from Talpa that includes surprising and competitive twists, viewers are sure to be immersed and entertained.”
Lachey recently hosted three seasons of NBC’s The Sing Off from 2009 through 2011, along with hosting NBC’s star-studded Macy’s 4th July Fireworks Spectacular in 2012. He has also starred in a series of popular television programmes including Charmed, Hope & Faith and One Tree Hill.
The show, which comes from Talpa Media USA inc. – the people behind The Voice, will hold auditions in Raleigh, N.C, Houston, Seattle and Philadelphia. Auditions take place throughout December.
