BBC announces Baroness Thatcher funeral coverage details
The BBC have announced details of their Baroness Thatcher funeral coverage.
Thatcher’s funeral takes place on Wednesday (April 17th), and will be held at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London – the corporation’s Radio coverage starts start at 6am, with 5 Live Breakfast, and conclude at 7pm. Television coverage, on BBC One, will begin at 9.55am, and conclude at 12.15pm.
Full details of the coverage are as follows:
Coverage will go live on BBC One at 9.55am, with a programme titled The Funeral of Baroness Thatcher – it will begin with the funeral procession leaving the Palace of Westminster, up to the end of the service at St Paul’s Cathedral. Hosted by Question Time‘s David Dimbleby, additional reporting will be provided by Sophie Raworth and Mishal Husain.
The BBC News Channel are due to announced their coverage for the event later today (April 15th).
BBC Radio 4 will broadcast live coverage of the days events from 10am until 12pm, starting with the procession and concluding after Baroness Thatcher’s funeral. Sian Williams will lead commentary on the procession, accompanied by military expert Christopher Lee. Commentary on events inside St. Paul’s will be provided by James Naughtie.
BBC Radio 5 Live will be providing coverage with a special outside broadcast throughout the day, starting with 5 Live Breakfast from 6am. Immediately following that, from 9.30am Victoria Derbyshire, Shelagh Fogarty and Peter Allen will have coverage of the procession and funeral. Richard Bacon will broadcast from 2pm-4pm as normal, as will 5 Live Drive from 4pm-7pm.
