PBS acquires ‘Call the Midwife’ Season 3, ‘Last Tango in Halifax’



have acquired the American broadcast rights to the third season of ’s Call the Midwife, and the first season of BAFTA-winning drama, .

– which is written by (Scott and Bailey, Unforgiven, At Home With the Braithwaites), and is an uplifting comedy-drama about romance and second chances - will premiere on September 8th. Call the Midwife Season 3 will premiere “in 2014″.

Executive Vice President of Sales and Co-productions at , Matt Forde, said: “ is an uplifting series that will challenge and captivate the audience. It’s a terrific complement to an all new series of Call the Midwife.”

Chief Programming Executive and General Manager of General Audience Programming at , Beth Hoppe, added: “I fell in love with Last Tango and its stars from the moment I saw it. And love and family and all the complications that come with it are at the heart of this warm comedy-drama. We’re pleased to add this new series and to continue our partnership on Call the Midwife, solidifying Sunday nights as our highest-rated night of the week.”

The network also confirmed on Twitter that they’d begin airing the fourth season of from January 5th, 2014.

  1. What a disappointment when I tuned in to watch “Last tango in Halifax “only to find it wasn’t been shown. I missed the first episode but was looking forward to catching up as I was born in Halifax. PLEASE let me know when we will see it. Guelph, Ontario
