So, tonight was the quarter-finals stage of So You Thank You Can Dance! Just eight acts remained from last week, and were again paired up with another dancer at random. Throughout the course of the two shows hosted by Cat Deeley, we saw 3 group dances (the group, the girls and the boys), 4 duet dances, 12 solos and a performance from Mika!
Yanet and Robbie danced a Lindy-Hop (I know, don’t ask. It’s based on the Charleston according to Wikipedia). Nigel said it was a great show opener, but it could have been danced better. While Arlene, Louise and Sisco all agreed that that the dance didn’t come together. The next duet was Charlie and Drew’s Lyrical Hip-Hop dance. Sisco said that they were both committed to the characters, but it was a catastrophe. Not agreeing with Sisco, Nigel described the dance as a lovely piece of entertainment. Following that was Lizzie and Alastair’s amazing Contemporary dance piece. Arlene describe the dance as ’spellbinding’, Sisco said that it was an amazing performance and Nigel added that the choreography was beautiful but he wasn’t feeling it. That was definitely a hard act to follow, but Mandy and Tommy certainly gave it their best shot in their Broadway dance. Louise was impressed but said that she wanted more from them, Sisco praised them from being versatile and solid dancers and Nigel deemed it the best dance of the night!
After a break for the National Lottery, Cat was back and ready to announce who was in the bottom four, and who would be going straight through to next weeks semi-final. In the bottom four this week was (surprisingly in my opinion) Yanet, Charlie, Drew and Robbie. After dancing their solos and a performance by Mike, the judges announced that they had come to a unanimous decision about who would be leaving. This week, it was Yanet and Drew. Next week is the semi-final. Now, just six performers remain to win the £100,000 prize in the final. Next week they will all perfom again, and Leona Lewis will also perform!
